There is still time to experience one of Pathway Homes’ most inspiring annual traditions. Our 13th Annual Summer of the Arts Exhibition is currently on display at the City of Fairfax Regional Library through the end of July. It showcases the remarkable talents, creativity, and personal journeys of Pathway Homes residents.
More than an art exhibition, Summer of the Arts is a celebration of resilience and recovery. Each piece tells a story, offering visitors a glimpse into the healing power of creative expression. Through painting, drawing, mixed media, and other artistic forms, resident artists share their unique perspectives while demonstrating how art can foster hope, confidence, and personal growth.
Program Origins
The exhibition goes back to 2012, when the family of Karen Free, a former Pathway Homes resident, and a prolific artist, made a generous donation in her memory. Recognizing the important role that art played in Karen’s recovery journey, her family wanted to create opportunities for others to discover the therapeutic benefits of artistic expression. Today, Summer of the Arts continues to honor Karen’s legacy by providing a platform for resident artists to showcase their work and inspire the community.
Visitors at the exhibition will have the opportunity to view a diverse collection of artwork, many of which are available for purchase. In keeping with the spirit of supporting artists, 100% of the proceeds from artwork sales go directly to the resident artists. Those interested in purchasing pieces can browse and pay for available artwork online or use the QR codes displayed with featured works at the exhibition to view pricing information.
SOTA Reception – Please Come!
The exhibition will culminate in our Annual Summer of the Arts Artists’ Reception on July 28, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Hosted at the City of Fairfax Regional Library, this special community event offers a chance to meet several of the featured artists, learn about their creative journeys, and hear firsthand how art has supported their healing and recovery. Community members, supporters, family, and friends are all welcome to attend. Light refreshments will be served.
Ahead of the reception, we invite you to visit the exhibition before it closes and celebrate the extraordinary creativity, courage, and resilience of Pathway Homes residents. Whether you leave with a piece of artwork or simply a deeper appreciation for the transformative power of art, Summer of the Arts promises to be an inspiring and rewarding experience.
