Position:  Peer Support Specialst

Compensation:   
$16.07  per hour

Hours:   Sunday – 4PM-12AM; Monday – 8AM-4PM

You Will: 

  • Gain valuable experience with Pathway Homes’ proven recovery-based, Housing First, model for supporting individuals with mental health and substance use disorders in achieving their goals.
  • Work within a supportive environment meeting regularly with your supervisor and teammates.
  • Hours:  16 hours per week:  Sunday 4-12 and Monday 8-4 

 What Will You Be Doing? 

the Peer Support Specialist provides direct support and assistance to individuals served in developing the skills and confidence needed to achieve goals and further their recovery.  The Peer Support Specialist utilizes their unique experiences and knowledge of the mental health and substance use systems to assist individuals in accessing resources, communicating needs effectively, managing illnesses, creating healthy support and social networks and developing advocacy skills. 

Required qualifications

Current or former lived experiences with mental health or substance use services.  Peer Recovery Specialist certification. Qualified Mental Health Professional eligibility.

Preferred Qualifications

 Include a minimum one year of experience providing direct care services, current certification as a Virginia Medication Aide and experience in work with  individuals with severe and persistent mental illness.
