On January 31, 2023, the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (“MWCOG”), published a draft Regional Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing as well as a Fairfax County Fair Housing Plan.

The Regional Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing, conducted by MWCOG (and contractor, the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights), is a document analyzing housing issues impacting regional jurisdictions including: the City of Alexandria, Arlington County, the District of Columbia, Fairfax County, the City of Gaithersburg, Loudoun County, Montgomery County, and Prince William County.

The Regional Al is meant to provide comprehensive and meaningful data and information collected, to assist participating regional jurisdictions, including Fairfax County, in developing overarching regional goals and strategies to affirmatively further fair housing.

In addition to the Regional Analysis of Impediments, MWCOG also provided goals and strategies to affirmatively further fair housing, specific to Fairfax County, in the Fairfax County Fair Housing Plan.
