Thank you everyone who came out to view the mesmerizing art created by the individuals we serve!
We were thrilled at the turnout at our Artist's Reception and enjoyed watching you all interact with the artists and learn about their journeys that inspired their works.
The Muse Room at Lorton Workhouse Arts Center played host to this year's exhibit. We thank them for their hospitality and partnership in presenting our annual show and reception.
During the Artists' Reception, Trevell Ellis, A.K.A Rhythm-T, provided the ambience for our event by playing beats on his drums. Later in the evening he was joined by Mitchell Kato on the Guitar. Mitch was also one of the artists presenting at our reception, showing that he is talented in both the arts of drawing and music.
We were honored to hear the words of Lorraine Thompson, one of the artists presenting that night. She gave an incredibly touching speech where she thanked the guests for attending and got teary-eyed as she gushed over how much she loved Summer of the Arts and how even through her most difficult of times, found comfort in her artwork. We at Pathway Homes, Inc. greatly appreciated her kind words and cannot wait to see the works of art she presents next year.
The artists use art to express their journeys through recovery. This annual event supports their talents by providing a wonderful opportunity for the individuals Pathway Homes serves to display their artwork publicly at an event that many look forward to all year.
For many individuals managing the symptoms of mental illness, drawing and painting provide a therapeutic outlet to express and understand their mental state. As a result, these artists exhibit works of raw beauty and inspiration.
Thank you again for attending our Summer of the Arts! We hope to see you in 2020!
