Pathway Homes’ Summer of the Arts Exhibition and Reception has become one of the most anticipated agency events each year. Since it began in 2013 the show has become THE event to highlight and celebrate the artistic talents of Pathways resident artists. The number of artists participating, the variety of media and subject matter, and the number of pieces submitted for exhibit grow each year, and this summer’s show is no exception.

This year, the Summer of the Arts Exhibition is hosted by the Reston Community Center (RCC) at Hunter Woods. RCC-Hunter Woods has a long history of supporting local artists. We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with the center to present this very special show.

The show opened on July 6th. Family, friends, supporters, and art lovers will have a full six weeks to appreciate the talents of the individuals we serve. Summer of the Arts will be on display until Wednesday, August 17th. The RCC is located in the Hunters Woods Village Center, at 2310 Colts Neck Road in Reston. Visitors can view the exhibit at any time during the center’s hours: Monday - Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday.

The highlight of the exhibition each year is the Artists’ Reception, planned this year for Saturday, August 6th, from 4:00-6:00 p.m at the Reston Community Center. Many of the artists will be on hand to talk about their work, what inspires them, and how they created the pieces – many of which will be for sale. One hundred percent of profits from the sale of all art pieces will be returned to the artists to further their ambitions and ability to share their talents.

2016 SOTA Reception

The annual Summer of the Arts Exhibition honors Karen Free, a long-time resident of Pathway Homes and an accomplished artist, who passed away in 2011. In memory of Karen’s love of art and culture the Free family established the Karen Free Art and Recreation Recovery Fund to provide opportunities for individuals served by Pathways to explore and enjoy the arts. You can support the Karen Free fund by sending a check to Pathway Homes with Karen Free Fund noted in the memo line or make an on-line contribution here.
