Pathways’ 2012 Summer Cookout took place on Saturday, June 23 at Nottoway Park in Vienna, Virginia. From 12 noon to 4 p.m. more than 200 event goers including individuals served by Pathway Homes, staff members, family members, board members and friends, participated in an Olympic themed event. The theme was highlighted by a photo backdrop of an Olympic stadium, and games such as ring toss, horse shoes and lawn bowling for which participants received medals. Pathway Homes water bottles were given out to guests as they arrived.
Also featured at the 2012 cookout was a table manned by Pathways' Consumer Advisory Council, whose mission is to provide a formal channel for consumer views and participation in program design and provision of services. Dranesville Supervisor, John Foust, an avid Pathway Homes supporter, dropped by and mingled with the Advisory Council, members of the Board and other guests. The menu for the event included burgers, Subway sandwiches, potato salad, fried chicken, watermelon, and more. A short program featured congratulatory words from President and Chief Executive Officer, Sylisa Lambert-Woodard, thanking everyone for helping Pathway Homes continue to grow in its mission of helping adults with mental illness in our community on their path to recovery. Recognition awards for achieving ten, fifteen, and twenty year bench marks in their recovery with Pathway Homes were announced and awarded. Also in attendance was retired Chief Executive Officer, Joel McNair. Following the awards were the announcements of the 2012 door prize winners.
